Point Scholar 2008 – 2012
Geoff was born in New York and raised in Newtown, Pennsylvania. His upbringing in a conventionally conservative setting challenged him to explore and assert himself in an environment which actively valued and encouraged conformity.
After coming out in high school, Geoff became involved in, and eventually president of, his school’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) group, Spectrum. He has also spoken at the Equality Forum conference in Philadelphia and encouraged his classmates to join him in attendance. Outside of his work in the LGBTQ community, Geoff has also been the editor of his high school’s newspaper The Scribe, the school’s literary magazine the Solebury Literary Arts Magazine (SLAM), a National Merit Scholar and an Eagle Scout.
Geoff graduated from Brown University, where he combined English and French literature, visual and literary arts, and queer theory into an interdisciplinary study focusing on interpersonal communication and identity-making. Geoff hopes to contribute to the construction of a more individual-affirming world culture through LGBTQ public relations and media outreach.
