Tina Owen

Point Scholar 2007 – 2009

Tina graduated from Alverno College in the spring 2008 with a Masters of Arts in administrative leadership and Director of Instruction. As a teacher, Tina saw that many gay and lesbian youth were facing harassment at school.

Inspired by the Harvey Milk High School in New York, she started The Alliance School, a school dedicated to serving the needs of LGBTQ youth and others who experience harassment. She was honored with the Educator of the Year Award from GSA for Safe Schools Wisconsin.

Point offers mentorship, leadership development and community service training to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) students.
