Tyler Dillard

Point Scholar 2006 – 2008

Tyler transferred to Rice University with the help of Point Foundation after his sophomore year. As a student at Rice, he served as Vice President of both his college and campus LGBT organization “Queers and Allies” and interned with the United Nations World Food Programme. Following his graduation from Rice, Tyler studied for his master’s degree at the Queen’s University of Belfast on the prestigious George J. Mitchell Scholarship. Tyler is now pursuing a legal career in Britain. He is an accomplished musician and has won several local, statewide, and national piano and vocal competitions.

He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and is in the process of completing his personal memoir. In his spare time, he enjoys abseiling, golfing, running and skydiving. Through the support offered by Point Foundation and his mentor Herb Hamsher, Tyler is rebuilding his relationship with his adoptive parents. In mid-2009, he reunited with his biological father, who watched his son graduate with an LL.M. in Human Rights Law (Honors).
