Ceceilia Allwein
Point Scholar 2006 – 2009
Ceceilia studied vocal performance and music theory at New England Conservatory of Music. While there, Ceceilia maintained highest honors on the Dean’s List each semester while frequently performing as a guest soloist and collaborative musician. She volunteered in the Boston community, served as a Resident Assistant, and led the Conservatory’s Queer Performing Arts Alliance. Ceceilia is working at Boston Lyric Opera as their Annual Fund Coordinator and performing as much as possible. Critic Matthew Guerrieri of the Boston Globe recently reviewed one of Ceceilia’s performances of Morton Feldman’s 4 Songs to e.e. Cummings, saying “Soprano Ceceilia Allwein made dulcet work of the delicate, precipitous leaps.”
Ceceilia’s goal is to take an increasingly active role in the performing arts community of Boston by exposing students to influential scholars and performers, fostering community for students who want to make a difference with their art and increasing visibility for performers advocating queer perspectives.
Ceceilia is also a member of Point's Board of Trustees.
