Robert Steele
Colorado State UniversityConcentration: Business and Commerce, Honors CollegeRobert grew up in a small homophobic town in Colorado. Despite graduating high school valedictorian, being a class officer, president of his science club, secretary of his schools National Honor Society and Division State Champion of Knowledge Bowl and earning numerous scholastic awards, Robert was overlooked for all local scholarships after he proudly made his sexuality part of his applications and interviews. Robert continues to excel in college, earning top scholastic awards and a special seat on his colleges Presidents Leadership Training Course. The only college student in Colorado to receive a scholarship from The Gill Foundation, Robert is planning on attending law school to prepare for a career in politics. In Roberts own words: It is my goal to become a well-respected openly gay man in politics. I believe it would help our society get over the homophobia that many teens still have to deal with in school every day. |
