Andrew Park
Yale Law School
Law
Andrew was born and raised in the northern suburbs of Chicago to Korean immigrant parents. Given the strong cultural and religious norms that reinforce ignorance about sexual orientation, Andrew faced great difficulty in recently deciding to come out as a gay man. After graduating from Harvard with an undergraduate degree in Economics, he was fortunate enough to receive a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University in England where he focused his Masters and Doctoral studies on the issue of same-sex marriage. He has continued his interest in LGBT rights and relationship recognition at the Yale Law School where he was a Soros Fellow and is currently in his second year. Andrew hopes to eventually work in the intersection of law, policy, politics and media. A strong believer in openness as an engine for social change, Andrew hopes to draw attention to positive contributions that LGBT people make in society by being visible and honest in his own professional capacity. In so doing, he hopes to also become a role model for the Korean and Asian American communities, both of which continue to lack visible LGBT figures.
