Andrew Moe
Vanderbilt University
Education
Born in Janesville, Wisconsin, Andrew grew up in a home
filled with substance abuse and domestic violence. When he
came out to his friends at age 13, and later to his parents
at 17, Andrew was pushed back into the closet and was
abandoned by his family emotionally, physically, and
financially. Despite difficult times, he survived and
thrived, graduating with honors and interning at three state
and federal agencies. In 2006, the Human Rights Campaign
assigned Andrew to work as statewide campus coordinator for
Fair Wisconsin, the campaign to defeat a constitutional
amendment banning civil unions and marriage for gay and
lesbian couples.
Andrew graduated with BA's in journalism and political
science from Arizona State University, where he previously
served as a student body president, fraternity brother, and
leadership scholar. He is currently pursuing a master's in
Higher Education Administration from Vanderbilt University's
Peabody College of Education and Human Development.
Andrew's goal is to someday lead a major research university
as president and eventually become a United States Senator.
