Cris Beam

Cris Beam is a Point Foundation alumna, graduating with a Masters in Fine Arts in nonfiction writing from Columbia University in 2005. With the help of a Point Foundation grant, Cris was able to complete her first book, called Transparent: Love, Family and Living the T with Transgender Teenagers, released from Harcourt in January, 2007. The book covers the lives and culture of transsexual kids living on and off the streets of Los Angeles, and is based on seven years of research. She now teaches creative writing at Columbia University and The New School and is at work on a second book.
