Daniel Bassichis
Brown UniversityConcentration: Africana Studies & EnglishDaniel was raised in Newton, Massachusetts, where he worked with other students on campaigns around LGBT awareness, student leadership, and HIV/AIDS. Dan served on the Board of Directors of GLSEN Boston and led a range of workshops for students and educators on LGBT issues. Since entering college, Dan has worked with numerous organizations and student groups on various queer social justice campaigns. In Daniel's own words: "It is more important than ever for the LGBT movement to redefine what count as “queer issues”. We need to realize that without a commitment to eradicating poverty, racism, and gender oppression, any vision for “LGBT justice” remains fundamentally incomplete.” |
