D. Morgan Bassichis
Brown UniversityConcentration: Africana Studies & EnglishMorgan was raised in Newton, MA, and graduated from Brown University in 2006 with a BA in Africana Studies and English. While in high school and college, Morgan worked with a range of student organizations to address the HIV/AIDS pandemic, queerphobia, and mass imprisonment, including as a Board member of GLSEN Boston and a researcher at the Sylvia Rivera Law Project in New York City. Morgan currently lives in San Francisco and works with queer and transgender organizations to build our collective capacity to transform all forms of violence. In Morgan's own words: "It is more important than ever for the LGBT movement to redefine what count as 'queer issues'. We need to realize that without a commitment to eradicating poverty, racism, and gender oppression, any vision for 'LGBT justice' remains fundamentally incomplete." |
