San Francisco Fundraising Event – April 17, 2009

On Friday, September 18th, Wells Fargo hosted Point’s fourth annual fundraiser at the Wells Fargo Penthouse in San Francisco. Attended by more than 120 guests, the event raised over $55,000 (including a $40,000 matching gift) to support Point's programs.

After a welcome from Board of Directors Chairman David Steward, guests heard stories of hope and courage from Point Scholars Angela Clements and Jacob Breslow. David Steward, John Pence and Shelley Fischel then recognized the eighteen Point Finalists who arrived earlier that day from across the country to interview for the 2009-2010 Point scholarship awards. Additionally, a total of five San Francisco-area scholars attended the event and interacted with guests. Jorge Valencia spoke about the crucial role Point plays in making a difference in the lives of these young people and how important it is to support the foundation.

The two-hour reception continued to build awareness and support for Point among members of San Francisco’s LGBT, straight allies and corporate communities.
