New York Valedictorian Society

On Tuesday, January 28, Point Foundation held its first-ever Valedictorian Society event at the home of Joe McMillan in Manhattan. The Valedictorian Society is a group of young professionals taking an important step in fostering a personal culture of philanthropy among emerging LGBTQ leaders.

The event sold out completely and hosted over 100 guests who were able to chat with Point Scholars and Alumni. Point Alumnus and Trustee Diego Arango and Alumnus Chris Kawasaki spoke to the group about Point’s mission and how their collegiate experiences were shaped by their involvement with the organization. We are happy to welcome 13 new Valedictorian Society members into the Point family.

Thank you to our sponsor, Teacher’s College at Columbia University, as well as the college’s Sexuality, Women & Gender Project. Thank you also to the host committee who helped make this inaugural event such a great success. Host committee members include: Benjamin Ancher, Diego Arango, George Aumoithe, Krystal Banzon, Josh Blumenfeld, Melanie Brestwer, Brian Casebolt, Daan Erikson, Christopher Kawasaki, M. Gatsby Miller, James Derek Mize, Juan-Pablo Moncayo, Jason Nichols, Ruben Ortega, Lucas Patton, Gregory Payton, Thomas Rock, Brian Simons and Greg Zaffiro.
