Each summer, Point Foundation invites its family of Scholars, Alumni, Directors, Regents, Trustees and Staff to join in one city for the Scholar & Alumni Leadership Conference (SALC). This is the one opportunity for our intergenerational community to gather. It provides an opportunity to offer new scholars an orientation program and to offer all scholars intensive training in leadership, LGBTQ history, career planning and community service.

This July, SALC took place in Washington, D.C. at the historic Mayflower Renaissance Hotel. The program included a visit to the White House with a special briefing from LGBTQ officials and tour of the Capitol led by U.S. Congressman David Cicilline.

2012 conference sessions included:

  • Perspectives on the LGBTQ Legislative Agenda
LGBTQ Leadership and Diversity in the 21st Century
    Building Your Personal Brand
    Self-Care for the Activist
  •

Participating panelists included Mara Keisling, Executive Director, National Center for Transgender Equality; Point Alumnus Alex Morse, Mayor, City of Holyoke, MA ; David M. Perez, Director of Development, League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC); Heather Sawyer, Senior Counsel, U.S. House Committee on the Judiciary; Gary Deppe, Director, Global Learning & Development, Estee Lauder Companies; Rev.
