Following an unseasonably hot 95 degree day, New Yorkers came out last week to celebrate Point Foundation's Point Honors...New York. The annual gala, held at the Roosevelt Hotel, featured stars from TV and Broadway donating their time to entertain the crowd and present three special awards.
The Point Inspiration Award went to PricewaterhouseCoopers, presented by "Ugly Betty" stars Tony Plana & Judith Light. Legendary Angela Lansbury, currently performing eight shows a week on Broadway in "Blithe Spirit," took the night off to salute her friend Arthur Laurents with the Point Legend Award. Vanessa Williams wrote and performed a special parody song for her boss, Silvo Horta, before presenting him with the Point Courage Award.
With dozens of paparazzi photographers and news crews attending, Point Honors was seen on Entertainment Tonight, WABC-TV, Here! TV and on popular websites like BroadwayWorld.Com, Playbill.Com, Popnography.Com, EW.Com, and People.Com. Even gossip blogger Perez Hilton highlighted Point Foundation as a worthy cause and added a link to Point’s website on his blog.
Inspiring, emotional and uplifting speeches from Point Scholars, Brittany Bjurstrom and Jacob Weldon were among the evenings highlights.
Best selling author, David Mixner wrote, "The Monday night Point Foundation dinner was one of the best events I have ever attended. The evening featured incredible honorees, moving testimonies by Point Scholars, ended on time and had great energy among the guests. My only wish was that everyone could have attended and help make this amazing organization even greater. All of us should be supporting the Point Foundation with our dollars, support and energy."www.davidmixner.com
